There’s a line in Jurassic Park 3 between Dr Grant and a little boy that goes:
“I have a theory that there are two kinds of boys. There are those that want to be astronomers, and those that want to be astronauts. The astronomer, or the paleontologist, gets to study these amazing things from a place of complete safety.” - Dr. Grant
“But then you never get to go into space.” - the boy.
Dr. Grant goes on to say, “Exactly. That's the difference between imagining and seeing: to be able to touch them.”
Vandals are like astronauts. They see any empty space in the world like anybody else - but they’ve gotta leave their mark. They've gotta touch the edge.
Because they don’t just see an empty space when they look at it. They see what it’s gonna be. What they’re gonna make it be.
… Especially when others don’t.
